Good Friday greetings! I wanted to post a Sunday Best early, to encourage everyone to dress up for Easter. While we may be all dressed up with nowhere to go, I think these little efforts are still important to making the holiday special. And it always feels nice to slip on a pretty dress!
I had been planning my Easter Sunday Best for months (the chiffon number above), but at the last moment, I got another idea for a look that included an Easter bonnet (the blue lace dress plus straw boater hat.) I became quite torn between these two choices, so I put it to a vote on Instagram. It was a very close race, and the floral chiffon won by a single vote. However, some of my dearest friends advocated the blue lace, so in the end, I decided to photoshoot both outfits. :) Choices, choices, right?
Here are the completed looks...
This floral chiffon dress was a rummage sale find back when I was in high school. It had been a maxi length (it just screamed 70s bridesmaid), but my grandma was able to shorten it to knee-length for an updated look. I have a strong affinity for circle skirts, so she was very patient in the task of hemming and sewing all that fabric. Thank you, Grandma!
I kept the outfit classic with some nude pumps and a pearl necklace.
This blue lace number was from Dressbarn a few years back, and I've worn it for a few previous Sunday Bests. The straw boater hat is nearly as old as me. I think it might have been my "Easter bonnet" when I was 3 or 4, and since then, it's served as a lovely wall decoration. Just the other day, however, I realized it would make an awfully cute fascinator hat, and that's how this idea got started...

To summarize, you certainly don't need to buy something new. Everything I'm wearing here is at least 3 years old. So shop your own closet! Get creative, have fun, and dress up for the holiday. :)
Wishing you and your family a truly Happy Easter!
Thank you for stopping by,
Eva
You are such a lovely gal in that chiffon - tip top spot on. And golly gosh'aroo how I love that wee tilted hat! I have an official Panama hat I paid 99 cents for at G'Will back in 1986 - tho it is now a relic, I cannot come to part with it.
